But the technology we’ve developed isn’t. As we like to joke at Curadel, “It may not be rocket science…but it is brain surgery.”
FLARE® stands for FLuorescence-Assisted Resection and Exploration in surgery and is a unified platform technology that combines near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent contrast agents with devices that can see the otherwise invisible NIR light. Working seamlessly together, FLARE® permits two independent targets to be highlighted in living subjects simultaneously and with high sensitivity and specificity. These targets might be tumors, blood vessels, nerves, lymph node, glands, or whatever else the researcher, veterinarian, or surgeon needs to see in order to do a better job.
FLARE® contrast agents can be thought of as Anatomic Enhancers™. Most objects in the body are hard to see because they are covered with blood, are similar in color to nearby structures, or both. FLARE® contrast agents create high levels of contrast in their targets so that they can be seen through blood and even overlying tissue. Objects that would otherwise be invisible are made visible using FLARE®. Seeing is curing®…and FLARE® is lighting the way.
FLARE® is so special because it is the only technology that has all of the following features, many of which are patent-protected worldwide:
